Our mission at the TCA is to preserve and enhance the special quality of life in the Village we all love.

From the President

Dear TequestaNeighbors:

The years 2023 and 2024 have been fascinating for me and others because a group of concerned Tequesta citizens came together to create the Tequesta Civic Association (TCA). We each felt it was necessary to fill a civic void that has been absent for many years to preserve and enhance the Village of Tequesta. There are changes around us—new social, political, technological, scientific, economic, or other developments. Each has required all of us to navigate through new and complex landscapes. That’s where the TCA comes in to help. As a civic association, we are a group of concerned individuals with shared interests for the preservation and enhancement of the Village and its unique small-town feel and associated lifestyle who meet regularly to accomplish common goals identified for the preservation and betterment of Tequesta to address the changes all around us that can be both good and not so good for life in our Village. TCA membership may include homeowners, renters, apartment residents, business owners, school parents, religious congregations, parents and other caregivers, and members of non-profit organizations.

What are the benefits of a local civic association, you may ask?

•  Foster a sense of identity. A sense of common identity among members can be established and maintained through a range of activities, including networking, social events, advocacy, and volunteerism.

•  Facilitate communication. Information can also be efficiently provided to more people, benefiting the community. Meetings allow members to discuss issues and work toward resolving problems that may arise occasionally.

•  Build relationships. A civic association is one of the best ways to build relationships between neighbors. Association meetings provide an opportunity to get to know your neighbors by working with them and through social activities. Building relationships helps neighbors become familiar with each other’s needs and interests and become more supportive in problem-solving.

•  Create an organized, unified voice. Through a civic association, you and your neighbors have a unified voice in the Village and other local governments, helping to identify issues, create partnerships, and set priorities. Government services can often be provided to a community more efficiently and effectively when there is a civic association to help decision-makers better understand the concerns of its citizens.

•  Improve the Village, its neighborhoods, and roadways. Residents can work through the civic association and with our elected officials and staff to develop long-range beautification and improvement projects.

We want and need your membership, but we also want your participation. Please step forward to join TCA and volunteer to help with our Board or our committees. I am especially hopeful that some newer and younger residents will join the TCA. The benefits of membership include regular updates about the meetings and events of the Village government and the local governments of the region, which can impact the lifestyle we so highly cherish here in Tequesta.

We look forward to working with you to preserve and improve this home we call Tequesta.
